BMW Announces a new M6, The M6 Competition.

Each unit of the M6 Competition will have a numbered plaque, ensuring its unique individuality, and boasts a whole host of luxury options from BMW’s Individual selection.

The main performance changes are a new spring and damper set-up that lets it sit 12 mm lower at the front and 10 mm lower at the back. A set of new wheels and rims are expected to go along with that package.

The M6 Competition gets a new metallic Frozen Grey paint job, while Merino leather is used to dress up the interior, with a choice of two colour schemes available, black with light-grey seams or in a double-tone Silverstone and Black with light-grey and black stitching.

Other unique features of the M6 Competition include custom floor mats

with "M6 Competition" labelling, as well as a placard on the roof lining inscribed with the vehicle's own serial number

The greenest 3 Series....

June 2009 heralds the launch of the most fuel efficient and cleanest BMW 3 Series the marque has ever produced. The new BMW316d ES Saloon sets a new benchmark in the premium sector with its heightened blend of high economy, low emissions yet rewarding driving experience.

The BMW 316d is powered by a 1,995cc four-cylinder diesel engine that records 62.8mpg on the combined cycle. This class-leading economy figure is enough to give the car a possible range in excess of 800 miles between fill-ups. Factor in its CO2 emissions of just 118g/km and the vehicle becomes the most fuel efficient and cleanest BMW 3 Series ever.

However, every BMW still has to acquit itself in the performance stakes to meet customer expectations. A 116hp output figure and torque of 260Nm from 1,750rpm delivers a zero to 62mph time of 10.9 seconds. When combined with a top speed of 125mph and uncompromised dynamic performance this fulfils the promise of the EfficientDynamics programme. This efficiency comfortably eclipses competitor product from the likes of Audi and Mercedes. Power is transmitted to the road via a six-speed manual gearbox.

Low running costs are a key factor in the proposition of BMW 316d ownership. Aside from its parsimonious nature, the BMW 316d costs just £35 a year to tax courtesy of a band C Vehicle Excise Duty rank. A 13 per cent benefit-in-kind rating also ensures it makes economical sense for the business user. To put this in context, the BMW 316d with its CO2 emissions of just 118g/km and a P11D value of £23,240 means a 40 per cent tax payer is liable for £1,208 a year. A person in the 25 per cent bracket need only pay £755. Compare this to the award-winning BMW 318d and savings of £524 and £328 respectively can be made.

The BMW 316d ES Saloon comes as standard with the same specification as the current What Car? Green Car of the Year Executive Car category winner, the BMW 318d ES Saloon. This specification includes air-conditioning, multi-function leather steering wheel, front and rear ISOFIX child seat attachments, front foglights and the complete suite of BMW EfficientDynamics technologies as standard.

The new BMW 316d Saloon goes on sale in September priced at £23,330 OTR.

The BMW 318d wins best executive car award.

BMW Group's EfficientDynamics programme gives customers outstanding fuel economy and low emissions without giving up driving enjoyment. This was recognised again this year at the What Car Green Car Awards 2009. The BMW 318d took the honours in the Executive Car category.

The BMW 318d Saloon is BMW's most fuel efficient and least polluting 3 Series ever. A BMW 318d Saloon records a combined consumption figure of 60.1mpg and C02 emissionsof 123g/km, while at the same time is capable of a zero to 62mph timeof 9.3 seconds. It was the blend of these impressive performance figures that assured the parsimonious 3 Series model with top green honours.

BMW first offered EfficientDynamics as standard in 2007. A raft of models received Auto Start / Stop, Brake Energy Regeneration, Active Aerodynamics, low rolling resistance tyres, Electric Power Steering, on-demand ancillary systems and optimum gearshift indicator features.

These technologies built on the existing lightweight engineering principles and direct injection engine technology introduced over the previous years.

The New BMW M3 Coupe, Called the M3 edition. Read on for more information

BMW has launched a new edition of the M3 coupe called, rather unimaginatively, the M3 Edition. And, no, it’s not a CSL-style major overhaul. The one technical difference compared to a standard M3 is a10mm lower ride height. Other than that, it’s all cosmetic.

You can order your M3 Edition in three colours: Alpine White, Dakar Yellow and Monte Carlo Blue. The Edition has some contrasting dark work, with a shadow-effect kidney grille, side vents, bonnet vents and twin exhaust tailpipe. The door mirrors are in black with connecting supports in the car’s body colour, so the anorak inside you will beable to tell the difference between the Edition and regular M3s.

The new M3 Edition sits on 19-inch M Double-spoke light alloy wheels as standard, with a black gloss finish being an option.

Inside the BMW M3 Edition...

Inside, there’s exterior contrast colour stitching on the front seats. Owners of the Dakar Yellow and Monte Carlo Blue owners will get more of this on the armrest and passenger door handle.

Every time an owner steps out of their vehicle, they’ll be reminded of their special edition status thanks to chequered flag motifs adorning the door sill plates in honour of BMW’s racing pedigree.

The M3 Edition will cost £53,435, a stiff £2500 premium over the regular M3.

The BMW 5 series GT concept.... An object of beauty, or just ugly...

Something tells me this is going to be a marmite car... you're either going to love it or hate it. But whatever it looks like, you can bet it goes and drives better than all its rivals!

The BMW Concept 5 Series Gran Turismo is the production-destined rendition of the Progressive Activity Sedan (PAS) development idea. For the first time, this concept car combines the looks and appearance of a sporty BMW Sedan, a modern Sports Activity Vehicle, and a classic GranTurismo. Perhaps the most outstanding feature of the BMW Concept 5Series Gran Turismo is its combination of stylish quality, luxurious comfort, and remarkable convenience.

As the name indicates, the BMW Concept 5 Series Gran Turismo is the ideal car for long journeys while still offering a dynamic driving experience in everyday traffic or short jaunts. The design of the body presents the character of a BMW dedicated to sporting performance.

A brilliant concept for modern mobility.
The BMW Concept 5 Series Gran Turismo conveys modern mobility by focusing on the requirements of a discerning driver who appreciates first-class ambience and enjoys all the benefits of a flexible interior.

With this in mind, the BMW Concept 5 Series Gran Turismo projects an individual flair oriented to each occupant’s needs and preferences. Such flair makes it possible to win over new driver groups for BMW. The BMW Concept 5 Series Gran Turismo is an attractive offer to the driver wishing to retain classic features such as presence, luxury, and quality while living a versatile and spontaneous lifestyle.

A BMW PRESS RELEASE..

............................................

BMW announces its involvement with the U.K. scrappage scheme.

Following the Budget announcement about the government's scrappage scheme, BMW UK has confirmed that it will participate in the programme. The government's £1,000 contribution will be matched by BMW to make a total saving of £2,000 off a new BMW or MINI.

This means the customer will be able to get hold of a new BMW 116i Sport for only £242 a month, with no deposit. With the government scrappage payment, the matching BMW offer and an additional dealer contribution the total discount available on this model equates to £3,260.

Is the scrappage scheme a good addition though? Does it work in the real world? Add your comments in the Open Topic section of the forum if you wish to express your view..
