Bootlid gas struts Empty Bootlid gas struts

I am desperate for advice. I have a BMW 316i Compact 1997 model.

The gas struts on the boot have failed and I have found possible replacements on line. They are;

3 series e36 gas struts.
the supplier is not able to advise me for certain if they will fit the Compact. (I live in Thailand and would have to have them sent out here by post.)

can anyone tell me if these will fit my car.
