Hello. The grille surround on my 1996 E36 cabrio is dented and needs replacing. The grilles are fine. how do I get the surround off please? Nick

Hi.
Are you talking about number 21 on the diagram link here... http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BJ32&mospid=47418&btnr=41_0043&hg=41&fg=10

if so, heres what you need to do...

1. Remove the front bumper
2. Remove both headlights
3. Remove kidney grilles
4. Remove the front panel securing screws on either side of the radiator (you may want to remove the air filter box to get to the screw on the left).
5. Remove the retaining screws on the top (near the bonnet latches)
6. Remove the screws far on each end of the front panel (you will have to do this from under the car).
