It is possible yes... it might be worth upgrading the speakers first, if you havent already....

It would be a lot easier and more beneficial with a new head unit mind...

Has the standard Bmw radio got the RCA output cable connectors for an external amp scratch , mines a 2001 316i Compact. Thanks.
