BMW 2.5 litre Manual 525d SE (E60) 2004
Hello,
Wondering if you can give me any advice on the above, eg MPG, Service intervals and what to look out for on a car with 88K on it. I think cambelt will require change at 90K, apart from this anything in particular that I need to consider.
Many thanks and kind regards,
Craig

Re: BMW 2.5 litre Manual 525d SE (E60) 2004
Hi Craig,
Ok, The BMW 525d SE is a good car... Expect MPG of around the 38-42 mpg, depending on driving style... )-60 is dealt with in just under 8 seconds... which is excellent for a car of this size... insurance group 16 and emissions are 185 g/km for tax purposes..
The handling is superb, but thanks to run flat tyres, they are a bit of a hard ride...
As for servicing, it doesnt run a timing belt, it runs two timing chains, so little in the way of maintainence required there... if it sounds rattly at the front of the engine, suspect a timing chain tensioner needs replacing...
service intervals vary, but expect it to be around 10,000+ there is a service interval indicator in car mind....
generally, the 525d is a superb allrounder and im sure you will love this car, its a cruiser that turns into a sharp handling car should you hit the B roads...
hope this helps...

Re: BMW 2.5 litre Manual 525d SE (E60) 2004
Many thanks for the advice, I do appreciatte the info. I am about to buy my first car that I am paying for myself, having run company cars for the last 20 yrs or so, always gone for the most tax efficient, hence I have been a big fan of; don,t laugh SKODA's, particularly Superbs, which are as the name suggests, but as I am putting my own money into this and do not have to worry about the tax man anymore I want somethig with a bit more prescence, hence the 5 series.
Expect that I will seek further reassurance about my purchase and will likely contact again.
Cheers,
