hot start problems
Hi I have a 2001 4door E46 3 series I havent had the car long but when the engine is cold everything is o.k but after i have got the engine up to temperature and turn my engine off then back on again (e.g when i come home from work and then an hour later go out in it again) it struggles to start and when it finally does there is a major lack of power, sometimes when coming up to traffic lights and press the clutch in it sometimes stalls. it is very sluggish when setting off aswell it feels like it is about to stall again. it is getting very annoying.
could any body help me please thanks

Re: hot start problems
Hi,
What engine do you have?
The best thing to do first is to check the vacuum hoses first for any splits, lose or broken ones... Air leaks cause havoc with the sensors and its free and easy to check...
Second thing, would be to get your fault codes read, At first guess id say its the camshaft sensor, they sometimes go intemittently faulty, causing random power losses and stalls, but rather than guessing, getting the fault codes read would narrow down your search, and should save you from throwing money away, replacing sensors that dont need replacing... Fault codes can be read at almost every garage these days with OBD-II diagnostic readers...
HTH...
