i-Drive navigation question Empty i-Drive navigation question

I recently bought an E90 with Professional Sat Nav. It came with the older 2005 maps on disc, so can I upgrade this without visiting the dealer? I heard that I need the High version and the dealer wants £400 for it and also my old disc back Sad

With the E90 im unsure myself..... I believe there are companies/individuals selling these CD's to update the software... you might be better off asking the these people themselves... I also cannot comment on the legality of these CD's, sold by these people... Best bet really would be to contact a BMW independant specialist... These may offer upgrades cheaper than BMW and are sure to be safe and will probably guarantee the upgrade, so if there are any problems with the installation etc etc... you are covered... although it will be a pretty easy process i would imagine...

Would you have any details or steps on what to do Mighty? I might give it a go myself to save a few quid. Wink

Im sure they are illegal, and voids any warranty you may have. At the end of the day, they are copies of BMW owned software. So i can understand the forum not giving details on how to install it!

thx,

Quite right Slinky.

This forum cannot and will not condone the use of illegally copied software guy's, nor will it give out advise on any illegal shananigans.

I was actually talking about getting a 2nd hand original with a firmware upgrade disc from ebay. I have seen legal copies for sale. So what are the steps in upgrading then?

I do believe the point has been made...

Contact the sellers.... If they are indeed second hand, they would have clearly done it themselves, no?

I think without the navigation, you still get the new iDrive controller but NOT the new interface. With the navigation, you get the new iDrive controller and the new interface.
