Hi,
What is the year and mileage?

It is worth checking the diesel injectors and injection pipes for slight leaks... air in the system will play havoc... Also, do you know when the diesel filter was last changed? this is often neglected... and when was the engine serviced recently?

Also, checking the vacuum pipes aswell wouldnt go a miss... just eliminate the possibility...

Of Course, There are more serious issues that could cause problems, but generally they the last thing you should check, due to the expense... and often it can just be as simple as a leak that causes problems...

Hi
Thanks for responding, the car is a 1994 with 152k on clock.
had oil and filter change 1 week ago plus new air filter, the fuel filter is resonbly new.
looked at car after your comments and it looks like one of the injectors is leaking diesal. I will remove the injector and see if the seals are damaged and see if this makes adifference. cheers for your help and will post results.

Great... Its a relatively straight forward job... and the injector seals do go on them...

Im glad you seem to have found the fault, but please do keep us posted... Wink

replaced fuel leak off pipe as leaking, light still on but i noticed that from one of the injectors is a lead that has been cut and goes nowhere, and below it is a wire connector which i presume the wire from the injector would have connected to, need to see apicture of the engine showing the injector and leads. Question

Ive looked for an actual picture for you to look at, but without owning one, it seems impossible to find.... Sad

The best diagram i can supply you is this...

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.do?model=CC12&mospid=47445&hg=13&fg=15

and here...

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.do?model=CC12&mospid=47445&hg=11&fg=40

With the wiring, just trace it through each injector, it should become apparent...

I will continue to search for a picture...

but i HTH.....

Thanks very much,
the picture shows exactly the injector with lead from it to the connector below it. it is injector sensor lead.
